coffeegrinder, if you have CCleaner installed you should get immediate notification to update when open it. Isn't yours doing that? If it isn't, you might have a borked installation. I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling if that's the case.

This time you beat cnet to the punch. I usually get updates from them as they become available. good lookin' out. Thanks.

BTW - I ran CCleaner only yesterday so didn't know about it.

Doc, I haven't run the prog for a few days, I received the update notification by email directly from Piriform.

That is strange. Like the Doc. says I get asked for updates if there are new ones when I run the program. I never get anything in my email. Must be the way you chose to have update notifications sent to you.

Neither do I. I get notified often, because I generally test the programs I recommend.

If you go to the hompage and subsribe to the newsletter, (bottom left) they notify you about updates for their software.

Just don't install Google Chrome during the install process, and your CCleaner will be good to go.

Best regards,
Steven.

That is OK if you want to be notified by email but I get enough emails now and I certainly do not want the news letter. No no not me I just have the program tell me when an update is available.

Probably the best way to go. Imagine getting an email that says this program or that program has an update available and you go there thinking that's what you're gonna get but what you do get takes your computer for a ride, usually one way and smack up against a BSOD.

Got my vote as well.

Thanks for the post, coffeegrinder.

In CCleaner you can turn on or turn off update notifications. That option is under Options / Settings. I prefer to check mine manually, so I also turn it off.
